You are more likely to get osteoporosis if you :
* Are female
* Are over 65 years of age
* Have a family history of osteoporosis
* Are thin and small built (or slender body built)
* Are not consuming enough calcium in your diet
* Have poor nutrition
* Don't exercise regularly
* Smoke
* Drink excessive alcohol
* Are a woman who is menopausal or if your ovaries have been removed
* Use medicines such such as corticosteroids, certain diuretics and blood-thinning medicines
