Things to avoid for Cheilitis


Cheilitis is a medical condition involving inflammation of the lip.

Cheilitis, or inflamed lips, can have many causes. The most common form, called angular cheilitis, presents as cracking at the corners of the mouth and can be brought on by an infection, excessive saliva or dental trauma. It is frequently seen in children who suck their thumbs and in elderly people who have ill-fitting dentures.

Here are some of the things to avoid for those who are suffering from the above medical problem.

* Use toothpaste without Mint.
* Do not lip lick.
* Brush teeth after a meal to reduce acidity or alkalinity from food.
* No spicy food, chillies.
* Avoid hot soupy food.
* Drink cool drinks with a straw.
* Do not chew chewing gum.
* Do not suck oranges directly on the lips.
* Reduce intake of raw vegetable.
